In Volume 3 of Looking Back we may actually be going “back to the future”. At least in some sense because when you take a close look at the Square-to-Square swing introduced in the 1970s, it looks a whole lot like the swings of some of the top current players. For example…

WOW ! I was in the Marines, shortly on my way to Vietnam, at the time these articles came out.
My dad got hooked on square to square. He improved so much that I got hooked in '72-ish...about the time Jim Flick became co-author of the illustrated book..
At the time. I had to aim east to hit the ball north...severe wristy swing hook. (Wish I had it now),
I actually took some college courses in 72-ish specifically so I could take a Phys. Ed. course on square to square being taught by the golf coach.
(I was the only one to show up on the offer to play golf with the coach at zero dark thirty @ Waveland Golf Course (mats in the tee-off area)- now Sydney R. Marovitz - in Chicago. I got a great grade from the coach. )
It worked for a while for me until it didn't. I went from hitting a hard, long fade, to slicing and losing distance.
I've been searching for the secret ever since.
The artist for the articles was Anthony Ravielli - same artist that illustrated Ben Hogan's "Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf."
If you read the square to square articles, closely, it matches Hogan's stuff.
It pretty much is a no hook swing tutorial...like Hogan's.
